The Bands:
The Shrinks is a band of psychiatrists who play jazz standards and original music.
The Shrinks are: Iliyan Ivanov (guitar), Milan Patel (sax), Avi Reichenberg (piano), Matthew Swan (bass), Dan Gollin (drums).The Amygdaloids are scientists who shed their scientific garb at night and take to the stage with songs about love and life peppered with insights drawn from research about mind and brain and mental disorders. The band has released four recordings: Heavy Mental (2007), Theory of My Mind (Knock Out Noise, 2010), All in Our Minds (2011), and Anxious (2015). They have recorded with Roseanne Cash, and have shared the stage with Lenny Kaye (guitarist for the Patti Smith Group), Steve Wynne (from the Dream Syndicate and currently The Baseball Project), and Jeff Peretz (an acclaimed guitarist and producer). Their last album, Anxious, was produced by the legendary Eric “Roscoe” Ambel. The Amygdaloids are: Joseph LeDoux (guitar, vocals), Tayler Volk (guitar, vocals), Colin Dempsey (bass, vocals), and Daniela Schiller (drums).
Pavlov’s Dogz are an international collective of scientist musicians who converge to host jam sessions in whatever country they find themselves in. The music is a mix of classic 60s, 70s, and 80s music for dancing. As their gigs are normally associated with a large scientific event, they are an eclectic mix of scientists from across the world. Pavlov’s Dogz are: Tim Bussey (vocals), Brad Postle (guitar), Charan Ranganath (guitar), Mick Rugg (guitar), Earl Miller (bass), Paula Croxson (flute, vocals), Joel Voss (drums), and Daniela Schiller (drums).
